Project Description

Since the conservation of crucial wildlife habitats, is most advantageous for the local community, if we empower them not only would they monitor the area for the occurring changes and the state of the wildlife in the area, but if necessary, they could also take action. In addition, educating and forming training teams among the local people, can create Sustainable Knowledge, especially among the students for future generations

Therefore to achieve this goal, in the Parishan wetland, the Otter specie has been chosen as the main carnivore in the area which is at the top of the food pyramid and as the flag species. This program which is focused around monitoring, and protection of this specie has started

Goals

Enabling the local work team as experts, to monitor the state of the otter species in the area

Enabling the local work team as the educators for the local people to teach them about the otter species

Raising public awareness about the otter through holding different classes

Raising public awareness about the otter through the production of educational packages

Access to the current state of the otter in the Parishan wetland

Identifying the threats to the otter in the Parishan wetland

Preparing management and protective plans for these species in the Parishan wetland

Achievements

Recovering a portion of the Parishan wetland for the conservation of the area’s biodiversity

Educating the local team in order to raise the level of awareness in relation to the otter

Educating the training team to raise the level of knowledge among the local community

Production of training packages which include

Children’s coloring books

The otter book for Teenagers and youths

pamphlets for local teachers’ education program

pamphlets for the field teams’ special education

Educational brochure for target group

Local communities’ participation posters in the conservation of the Parishan wetland
